Worthless Upgrades
Ok, maybe they are not completely worthless upgrades, but as far as teaching a newer player to play the game, these are upgrades that can be skipped, or researched late in the game. Be kind to your economy, and don't waste money!
ENGINEER BRIGADE
ARTILLERY BRIGADE
MOTOR POOL
Ammo Production
From: Engineer Brigade
Affects: Arty Brigade, Engineer Brigade, Ammo Depots
Bonus: +5 Ammo Per
Cost: 125
Since you should be using supply depots instead of ammo depots , Ammo Production will only give you +10 max (if you have artillery and engineer brigade) for $125?? That only saves you making 2 supply depots which would also give +10 for $75 less money....
Banzai
From: Artillery Brigade
Affects: Airborne and Infantry HQ's
Bonus: Access To Regiment
Cost: 100
This regiment does have some uses, but Japan has so many options when it comes to infantry, best to save your money and skip this upgrade. Try commandos , mortars , or heavy airborne instead...
Construction Battalions
From: Engineer Brigade
Affects: Engineers
Bonus: +3 Repair
Cost: 75
There are a few occassions to get this upgrade.. If you are building AA or using artillery bunkers to help defend your corp hq from airborne attacks... This would be a late-game, only if you have alot of money upgrade..
Flame Throwers
From: Motor Pool
Affects: Infantry HQ
Bonus: Access To Regiment
Cost: 100
Golaith Remote Bombs
From: Motor Pool
Affects: Inf HQ
Bonus: Access To Regiment
Cost: 100
While the Goliath Infantry is definately and interesting regiment, it faces major challenges in being a logical chioce in most multiplayer situations.... C'mon? A remote controlled tank full of explosives? Sounds good, but too weak vs infantry, and not strong enough vs mech and armor.
Improved Fortifications
From: Engineer Brigade
Affects: Bunkers
Bonus: +25% AP and Explosive Resistance
Cost: 75
There are a few occassions to get this upgrade.. If you are building AA or using artillery bunkers to help defend your corp hq from airborne attacks... This would be a late-game, only if you have alot of money upgrade..
Improved AT Weapons
From: Motor Pool
Affects: AT Infantry
Bonus: +10 Attack Value
Cost: 75
No form of AT Infantry is very sucessful online, too weak vs infantry, too vulnerable to special op bombs, and not strong enough vs mech and armor.
Oil Production
From: Engineer Brigade
Affects: Motor Pool, Engineer Brigade, Oil Depots
Bonus: +5 Oil
Cost: 150
Since you should be using supply depots instead of oil depots , Oil Production will only give you +10 max (if you have motor pool and engineer brigade) for $150?? That only saves you making 2 supply depots which would also give +10 for $100 less money....
Panzerfausts
From: Motor Pool
Affects: AT Infantry
Bonus: +15 Attack
Cost: 100
No form of AT Infantry is very sucessful online, too weak vs infantry, too vulnerable to special op bombs, and not strong enough vs mech and armor.
Rifle Grenades
From: Artillery Brigade
Affects: Assault Infantry
Bonus: Access to Regiment
Cost: 100
Tankettes
From: Motor Pool
Affects: Mechanized and Armor HQ's
Bonus: Access To Regiment
Cost: 100
The Tankette regiment is only recommended for experienced players with good micro skills. Tankettes are very vulnerable to any of the special op bombs, and will likely be killed by a single, well placed/timed bomb.
