AXIS and ALLIES RTS | "Katyusha" Rocket Truck
"Katyusha" Rocket Truck
The secrecy surrounding the world's first
MLRS kept their military designation from being known by the soldiers who operated them. Because they were marked only with the letter K (for Voronezh Komintern Factory), Red Army troops adopted a nickname from a popular wartime song, "Katyusha", about a woman longing for her beloved, who is away at war. German troops referred to the Katyusha as "Stalin's organ" (German: Stalinorgel), after Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, and also alluding to the sound the weapon made when fired.
While less accurate than conventional artillery, the Katyusha was very effective in saturation bombardment, and like the German V weapon was a "fear weapon" that had strong psychological effects on enemy troops. Katyusha launchers were often massed in very large numbers, in what could be classified as an early form of "shock and awe".
A battery of four BM-13 "Katyushas" could fire a salvo in 7–10 seconds that delivered 4.35 tons of ordinance over a 10 acre target area. With an experienced crew, the launchers could redeploy to a new location immediately after firing, denying the enemy the opportunity for counterbattery fire. The weapon's disadvantage was
long reload times , in contrast to conventional artillery, which could sustain a continuous low rate of fire.

In Axis and Allies RTS ~
Armored Rocket Truck Regiment The armored Rocket Truck Regiment uses the same support vehicles as the arty tank regiment, but keeps the rocket halftrack units. Stronger than the rocket halftrack regiment, but still weaker than arties or heavies.
Armored Katyushas Russian arty tanks or Russian Armored Rocket Trucks? Both of these armor regiments have them same support vehicles, so it basically comes down to the Rocket Truck vs ISU-152. Although they both claim to have the same recharge time, the rocket truck has always seemed slower to reload than the arty tank. The most glaring differences are below.
health = 225
health = 330
defense = 2
defense = 5
range = 25
range = 44
Combat Limitations Their range is almost half (25 to 44) that of artillery tanks, which makes it harder to spread them out effectively to avoid being bombed.
Beware of Forest, Jungle, and City Terrain Whenever possible, stay in open terrain as
Forest ,
Jungle , and
City Terrain penalize all vehicles; both in attack and defense values.
