OIL AND AMMO | AXIS and ALLIES RTS

In Axis and Allies RTS, it is essential to maintain positive accrual levels of ammo and oil at all times! Dipping into the "red" for even a short time will come with severe monitary penalties.

If you run out of money while in negative oil and/or ammo production, the Bleeding icon will appear at the top of the screen, and your units will suffer from Upkeep Shortage, which means that they will take damage when out of supply.

If your units "flash red" retreat to your zone of supply immediately, or they will die!

Be Kind to your Economy. Unless it's an emergency, always make sure to have enough ammo and oil for the regiments you deploy BEFORE you deploy them.

So you will need to acquire some ammo and oil, what's the best way you ask?

SUPPLY DEPOTS! One of the most common mistakes newer players make is to deploy oil and ammo depots instead of supply depots. Why not make oil and ammo depots? Most importantly, oil and ammo depots both count against your building limit of 20, whereas supply depots do not. Use your 20 buildings wisely, the more HQ's, the better your economy. Also, you get more resources for your investment using supply depots. _[example]

AMMO DEPOTS The only time it really makes sense to deploy Ammo Depots is to support an early game infantry rush. Make sure to sell them later and replace with supply depots.

OIL DEPOTS Unless you are crafty and find some way to use Flamethrower Infantry, the only time you really have an excuse to build Oil Depots, is in emergency, base rebuilding situations. _{[Upkeep Shortage]}

OIL and AMMO ACCRUAL BY BUILDING/COUNTRY (per minute)

Provided mostly as a reference, the chart below details the oil and ammo production rates of the different countries and structures. Notice that Germany receives production bonuses on several of their buildings, which we assume was done to compensate them for their weak economy. However, the small variation in oil and ammo accrual between Germany and the other countries is of little consequence.

The most important statistic is outlined below in green. As mentioned before, supply depots do not count against your building limit, and are essential to a healthy late-game economy.

The only other statistic worth mentioning would be that the Airborne HQ does not provide oil, which will require the production of more supply later in the game.

More Production! | Fueling the Battle

It would be impossible to field the late-game armies that are seen everyday in online play; using oil and ammo depots. This means building ALOT of supply depots!

What follows below is an idea on just how many supply depots you will need to field an effective late-game force. Although your base itself will provide a portion of your required ammo and oil, how much it provides will vary depending on build, cities, and even special ops (econonic aid)...
