Keyboard Shortcuts ~ Axis and Allies RTS ~ Micro Management
While most in-game tasks can be performed with the mouse alone, many of these tasks can be accomplished faster, and more efficiently, with the use of keyboard shortcuts. We have simplified the keyboard below by removing the keys that have no unique functions within A&A, and grouping the keys by color to give you a better idea of the layout. Mouseover the keys for more information (registered users only, javascript enabled browser required)
You are viewing the unregistered version of this page. The full version contains over 100 images and dynamic mouse-over information for all the important game actions. For site performance reasons we have restricted access to the full version to registered users only. Registration is free, private and secure. We do not share or sell any user information.

Q
|
Assault Formation (Q) While in Assault formation regiments have a maximum Attack Efficiency of 100%, althought their maximum speed is capped at 75%
RECOMMENDED FOR COMBAT
W
|
Aggressive Formation (W) While in Aggressive formation regiments have a maximum Attack Efficiency of
75% , althought their maximum speed is at 100%
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR COMBAT
E
|
Column Formation (E) While in Column formation regiments have a maximum Attack Efficiency of
50% , althought their maximum speed is at
125% NOT RECOMMENDED FOR COMBAT
R
|
Run (R) is a variation of the Move order. It puts your regiment temporarily into Column formation, allowing it to move quickly while avoiding the enemy rather than attacking. When the regiment reaches its destination, it returns to its previous formation. You can also hold down the
(Alt) key and right-click to automatically issue a run command
- ALSO -
Buildings - Pulls up the research sub-menu on any building that can reseach various upgrades
T
|
Y
|
Special Operation 1 (Y) Use the
Y key to select special operation 1, which will vary depending on general played. In this example we will use general arnold, which would be the carpet bomb.
NOTE: All special ops require you to left-click a location, regiment, or structure on the map after selecting them
U
|
Is used as a hotkey in some sub-menus, but has no primary use in online play
I
|
Repair (I) is an engineer command, hit (I) and left click a structure to repair it. TIP: Simply right-click a damaged structure with the engineer selected to repair it.
O
|
Rout (O) - When the morale of a regiment drops below its breaking point, the regiment will rout. When a regiment routs, it assumes column formation and moves away from its enemies. You can rout selected regiments automatically by pressing the
O key. This is
NOT recommended as you have no control over routed regiments until they have stopped on their own, and the regiment is as likely to run deeper into trouble, as it is toward safety.
P |
Pack / Unpack (P) When a building is in truck form, it can receive movement orders just like a regiment. The
P key will select the UnPack action, allowing you to place the building in a desired location with a left click. The
P key will also Pack a building so you can move it
|
A
|
Attack (A) selects the attack command, and then left click on an enemy unit or structure to instruct your regiment to attack that enemy, and chase them if they run. Like using the move command, right-clicking on an enemy will also issue an attack order (much easier).
- ALSO -
Command All (A) Buildings - Use
A to select all of the regiments attached to a selected HQ. Handy for grouping your regiments.
- ALSO -
Air Attack (A) Air Commands - With the Airfield selected, use
A to select the air attack action, and left click on a target.
S
|
Stop (S) tells a regiment to stop what it is doing
D
|
Deploy (D) Used to pull up the deploy menu on any headquarters that can produce regiments and/or trucks.
F
|
Rally Point (F) Buildings - Use
F to select the rally point action, also known as
Deploy To , and left-click an area on the map. Regiments and/or Trucks will automatically head there as they are deployed
G
|
Guard (G) tells a regiment to stay close to a unit or location, attacking any enemies that come near
H
|
Special Operation 2 (H) Use the
H key to select special operation 2, which will vary depending on general played. In this example we will use general arnold, which would be propaganda war.
NOTE: All special ops require you to left-click a location, regiment, or structure on the map after selecting them
J
|
Special Operation 4 (J) Use the
J key to select special operation 4, which will be the
Corp Reorganization regardless of general played.
NOTE: All special ops require you to left-click a location, regiment, or structure on the map after selecting them
K
|
Is used as a hotkey in some sub-menus, but has no primary use in online play
L |
Deploy to Location (L) Like the deploy command except for dropping airborne, the
L key will pull up the deploy menu on any airborne tent, where you can select which type of airborne regiment, and left click a spot on the map to deploy them there.
|
Z
|
Is used as a hotkey in some sub-menus, but has no primary use in online play
X
|
Explore (X) Tells a regiment to explore a desired location. It will continue to wander around in circles until told otherwise.
Not recommended for most game situations, as it is better if your troops do not go wandering off by themselves.
C
|
Attach (C) - If a HQ is destroyed that had regiments attached to it, these regiments will be detached. Only Attached regiments can heal and resupply. Either hit
F5 to cycle thru the detached regiments, or select them with a left click, and hit
C to attach them.
V
|
Group Behavior ON/OFF (V) - with two or more regiments selected, toggle group behavior on and off with the
V key. Group behavior is best left off unless you need to regroup your troops (too spread out)
B
|
Build (B) is an engineer command, which opens a second menu allowing them to build:
(A) Anti-Air Bunkers (R) Artillery Bunkers (B) MG Bunker Most commonly used to build large quantities of AA bunkers later in the game during long battles. See our engineer page for more info.
-ALSO-
Bombard (B) - units with the bombard ability can attack enemy units and structures from a distance.
N
|
Special Operation 3 (N) Use the
N key to select special operation 3, which will vary depending on general played. In this example we will use general arnold, which would be the secret agent.
NOTE: All special ops require you to left-click a location, regiment, or structure on the map after selecting them
M
|
Move (M) selects the move command, and then left click on an open space in on battlefield screen to instruct your regiment to move to that location. TIP: You can also right-click on your destination to have the selected regiment move there (much easier).
