Generals
It is important to tailor your strategies to take advantage of the
strengths of a particular country and general; while at the same time avoiding both their
weaknesses and inferior units.
As with any successful
strategy within Axis and Allies, you must be ready to counter the tactics and strategies of your opponents.
Reconnaissance is key! You can't be prepared if you don't know whats coming.
Weaknesses
1. AT-Mech: Japan has the weakest Tank Destroyer Units and Halftrack Units , and therefore the weakest AT-Mech regiment as well. Also, Japan is missing the important Mechanical Reliability and Improved Machine Guns upgrades.
2. Armor: Except for the Arty Tank regiment, Japanese Armor is the worst in the game. Not only are they missing the all-important Gyrostabilized Tank Guns upgrade, and have no Heavy Tanks , almost every unit is weaker; as can be seen in these unit comparisons: [ARTY TANKS ] [LIGHT TANKS ] [MEDIUM TANKS ] [HEAVY TANKS ] [COMMAND TANKS ] [TANK DESTROYERS ]
3. Airpower: In WW2, the strength of Japanese airpower was fighter planes , which have little impact in A&A online play. Japanese airpower is not very good at taking out enemy structures, however, it can be used versus ground forces, when combined with an offensive push. In most cases, it is much better to stick with the strengths of Japan.
"The fruits of victory are tumbling into our mouths too quickly." Emperor Hirohito
General Kuribayashi Although Banzai Charge can prove useful in a variety of different situations (since it effects infantry and vehicles), the rest of the special ops of Kuribayashi have little effect in online play.. This makes Kuribayashi Japan's weakest general.
General Mikawa Mikawa is one of the most well rounded, no-bomb generals. Lend Lease , and special ops that work in a variety of different situations make Mikawa a favorite of veterans of Axis and Allies RTS.
General Nagumo Nagumo is Japan's second strongest general, as his Kamikaze can deliver an punishing 400 AP damage.. Although, Nagumo's other special ops have little to no effect in online play.
