AXIS and ALLIES RTS HALFTRACK REGIMENT
The Halftrack Regiment is NOT RECOMMENDED for use in online multiplayer Although this regiment has some uses in 1v1 battles, we are mostly concerned (on this site) with the multiplayer aspects of Axis and Allies RTS. For info regarding halftracks in general, see:

AXIS and ALLIES RTS HALFTRACK UNIT
Taking a quick look at the halftrack unit you can see Japan has the lowest
defense value and second lowest
attack value , leaving them with the weakest halftracks in the game. Russian halftracks have the lowest attack value, but at least have the
mechanical reliability upgrade. Both Japan and Russia are missing the important
improved machine guns upgrade.
German halftracks are only missing
mechanical reliability , but aside from that can compete with those of Great Britian and the United States.
Comparing the halftrack regiment: Comparing them head-to-head is pointless as they rarely will fight each other. Occassionally can be used as a counter to snipers in 1v1 play, but the only other times you see the halftrack regiment being deployed is either by
noobs or the
AI .
Comparing the halftrack unit: There is some important info to be gained, probably most importantly is how well they will fight against infantry, as parts of either the
Artillery Mech and/or
Anti-Tank Mech regiments. Japanese and Russian halftracks do not do nearly as well versus infantry, as their British, German, and USA counterparts.
UnOfficial Regiment Ranks
The research and data is all in, and after years of tesing and analysis here's our
UnOfficial Regiment Ranks for the Axis and Allies RTS Halftrack Regiment...
from first to worst
Since the halftrack regiment is comprised only of halftrack units, comparing them is pretty easy :)
United States M3-A1 Halftrack
USA has all the best halftrack upgrades, and the special op mechanized advance gives them the slight edge over Britian for the best halftracks in the game.
British M3-A1 Halftrack
Statistically tied with the USA halftrack, although the strongest special op available to Britian for halftracks is fighting spirit (not nearly as strong as mechanized advance).
German SPW-251 Schützenpanzerwagen SdKfz-251 Halftrack
German halftracks are only missing
mechanical reliability , but aside from that can compete with those of Great Britian and the United States.
Russian M3-A1 Halftrack
Japanese Type 1 Ho-Ki Halftrack
The Halftrack Regiment is NOT RECOMMENDED for use in online multiplayer Although this regiment has some uses in 1v1 battles, we are mostly concerned (on this site) with the multiplayer aspects of Axis and Allies RTS.
In Conclusion
All halftrack regiments in A&A feature four halftrack units and an armored command car. The regiment itself is just like the popular AT Mech regiment, except without the two tank destroyer units; which makes a huge difference. The halftrack regiment can fight infantry, but will be outclassed by any other vehicle based regiment. For that reason, try to find something else to deploy. A halftrack is a vehicle with regular wheels on the front for steering, and caterpillar tracks on the back to propel the vehicle and carry most of the load. The purpose of this combination is to produce a vehicle with the cross-country capabilities of a tank, and the handling of a wheeled vehicle. Halftracks were used extensively in World War II, especially by the Germans and the Americans. Widely used as armored personnel carriers, self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, self-propelled anti-tank guns, artillery tractors, armored fighting vehicles and in other tasks.
