M4A1 Sherman

Actually nicknamed "Sherman" by the British after US civil war general William Tecumseh Sherman, the name caught on and was used by the USA

as well. Much as on the eastern front with the Russian T-34, this tank was easy to manufacture, with over 50,000 produced in several different varieties. Didn't match up well 1v1 with the best German armor of the day.

This tank lacked the firepower and armor against tanks was not effective against German tanks. More importantly in World War II was their sheer numbers that overcome the Germans easily which the Germans did not produce not enough tanks as much because of their shattered economy by Allied air forces. There are different types for the Sherman originally started out as M4 (105) Sherman.
