Hello all, it has been a few years now, hasn't it? Damn. Still kicking though and still playing this great game. Was going some matches with a few friends of mine and it came to our attention that it seems that it might be beneficial (for our purposes) to add a cooldown to the build-time of HQs. If there is anyone left, do you have ideas on how this could be made a possibility?

by "cool down" do you mean that it takes longer to recruit buildings or regiments? I'm sure that there is a way to change how long it takes to recruit a regiment. I've just never seriously looked into changing it.

or does this mean that it takes longer for the new HQ to "warm up" before players can recruit from it? my guess is that if you increased the "Supply Stockpile" it might take longer for the division tent to become fully operational. never tested this out in practice-- but it seems reasonable.

I'm sure that there is a way to make things take longer to get deployed. however, I'm not sure most people would want that.

at one point I thought it would be nice if "Conscription" made regiments 10% cheaper, took only 80% of the normal recruit time to deploy a regiment, and reduced the health of infantry by 10%. players would then have to have "Special Forces" to bring things back up to the normal level (or research THAT ahead of time).

in the end that more complicated version of "Conscription" was something that a single technology couldn't properly render. it would reduce the health of the BUILDING, but it had no effect on the infantry units themselves.

The issue at hand is the fact that once an army nears the opponent's base it becomes trivial to simply pump out regiments as they die leading to stalemate and a bloody slog. I've actually been talking with two other friends of mine who are also at a loss about what to do for it, so this was one thought about a solution.

found it. once you've got the fully extracted version of the game you would find it here:

Atari\Axis & Allies\Data\Templates\template_organization_aa.tgi file

each regiment is assigned properties:

entrenchment time = 30 seconds default

control range = 18 default
(pretty sure this is the range at which your regiments will start attacking enemy buildings and units)

operational range = 34 default
(not sure, but I think this is the distance that your regiment will run when it panics and routs)

you can manually adjust these once you've extracted the file. I don't know if I could post the file on this site or not. won't post anything here for the time being. but I at LEAST wanted to point out the file where you can change those properties if you want to. you could chat with your friend about the ideal recruit time you want and use that patch together when you're playing online.
