I think we need a new thread to give pointers to people if either have not modded A&A or have not modded A&A much. Basicly we'll post tips here that we think are useful and interesting as we find them.

I'll go first:

1. The template folder is your best friend. It tells almost everything you can mod. Pay attention most to template_modifier.tgi and the building/unit tgi's because they will make your life much easier.

2. property = trailblazing makes those units with the property ignore the different terrains.

3. You can also make up your own properties, to upgrade only specific units, for example.

Trying to add units to modify them but they don't show, or is it a different program that to use to edit/create units?

Unit models are in C:\Program Files\Atari\Axis & Allies\Data\Units\GER for example. You have the unit .tgi's, then in the same place, there should be folders for unit models. Tgi's allow you to edit health and things like that. Don't forget to add them to a regiment and that regiment to a building.

Buildings models are in C:\Program Files\Atari\Axis & Allies\Data\Buildings\GER for example. Same set up as above.

Everything should be in the Data.rwd.

For models you need the nifscope, which I think you mentioned you had.

For editing skins, you need photoshop, gimp, or something that can edit .dds files.

Use the load button near the upper-left corner, then click on the unit's .nif file.

I never had this problem. Let's do this step by step to make sure we haven't missed anything.

1. Extract the data in data.rwd. Make sure it completely finishes.

2. Move the data elsewhere(I recommend) so that you don't overwrite it.

3. Go to C:\Program Files\Atari\Axis & Allies\Data\Units\GBR. You should see all the units tagi files.

4. In the above folder, there should be sub-folders for the units. These folders should contain dds and nif files.

5. If you see these files, proceed to use nifscope and open the nif files as you please.
