I tried coming up with a map that reflects what Autumn feels like in North America. It took a bit of ingenuity to get the right sort of feeling. I got rid of just about every green thing I could find on the map. I supplemented the two autumn-style trees of the forest terrain by integrating trees from the chapparal, desert and savannah doodads. one trick I used to give more variety was to take three randomly generated trees from Savannah and put them in the same spot. it does a nice job of giving the impression of a large leafy tree changing color in the fall.
there are six cities, each one was hand-made. one of my pet peeves in WWII single-player mode is that all the cities were more or less the same in terms of economic and industrial signficance. on this map I tried to make some cities stronger in oil, others in ammunition, and others with more money.
This isn't a very complicated map in terms of game-play, but it did take a long time to make everything look the way I wanted it to. |
