I'm a newbie at this game-- been playing since January. early onI found that in SP campaign mode it was almost impossible Germany infantry to defeat armour divisions. (I waited too long, built too many bunkers, and wasn't aggressive enough). I found myself struggling to find ways for infantry to defeat armour regiments. ESPECIALLY if you had to deal with the 20 regiment limit. my solution to this German single-player frustration helped me pick my favorite German general: Kesselring.
using the Blitzkrieg function would boost the normal Goliath bomb's attack value from 250 up to 300. if the regiment were experienced, that attack value would be even higher. since the Goliath bomb is given an additional 250 point attack boost against buildings this means that two Goliath regiments with the Blitzkrieg special operation could flatten any major headquarters this side of the Corps HQ in a single attack.
however, unless I used the supply drop feature in advance, and had the area well guarded by regular infantry and anti-tank infantry-- that would end up being a suicidal attack. sometimes it ended up being worth the trouble. two Goliath regiments were only worth half the price of a Mechanized or Armoured HQ. this would allow me to buy some time. if I used swarm tactics on the unattached armoured and mechanized divisions it allowed me some breathing room. if I got lucky, it would even allow me to turn the tide of battle altogether.
if I found myself on the defensive I would use a combination of bunkers up front, arty pieces behind them, and have Goliath and AT infantry mixed together. this mixture worked best over time. the bunkers would absorb the enemy's fire. the AT infantry would stun the enemy tanks long enough for the Goliath bombs to shatter their ranks.
offensively, I would start off with a pair of regiments (one regular and one Goliath) and go scouting for enemy installations. I would single out all of the non-HQ buildings for certain destruction. only one bomb needed to connect for most of these structures-- and then the mix of infantry could finish the job. if done well, I could forestall the enemy from deploying medium or heavy tanks. if done VERY well, I could annihilate a Corps HQ from an amphibious landing and end the game in less than 10 minutes. of course, the most important task, after blowing things up, was having them run away and duck for cover! |

Not effective in online play you could get overrun by tanks, snipers, SAS, commandoes, mortars, tankettes, artys, airplanes, and recon (if spammed). Don't suggest this online unless you are noob. |
