Blitzkrieg or "lightning war" is a concentrated, overwhelming attack on an enemy location, with the intent being to breakthru the enemy lines and continue a "lightning attack" forward. Often a synchronized, coordinated attack, utilizing land and air forces simultaneously; the blitzkrieg ignores protecting it's flanks, with the hopes of defeating the enemy before they can organize a defense.
