Airfield A continuation of the discussion regarding Airpower in Axis and Allies RTS.
We welcome your input!

Airfield Fighters - Don't expect too much from your fighters. Their main role in Axis and Allies is to escort your bombers, basically running interference once you reach enemy AA. If they arent busy escorting your bombers they will help defend you base, but their effect is minimal, usually not strong enough to repel a couple units of infantry.

Airfield Bombers - Can be very effective at taking out enemy structures, or to support your forces by bombing enemy regiments. Make sure to turn ON fighter escorts and research ALL upgrades before ordering airstrikes. (more)

I tent to disagree with this assessment that Japan>Germany as far as air power goes. what you've missed is the crucial distinction that German air strikes only cost 100 as opposed to 150 of all the other nations. so as far as cost per air strike goes Germany is just as effective as US/Britain, but with a weaker overall economy.

also from personal experience it takes 4 US/British bombers(fully upgraded) to finish off an hq while it takes 6 for the other nations(upgrades don't matter cause none improve bomber damage). so to clarify my point from above, 150x4(US and Britain)=600 100x6(Germany)=600, which is why I rank Germany as 3rd and Japan as 4th.

oh and 1 more thing, a tactic I sometimes use is to use splash bombing on all 4 corners of the hq, to make sure that any engineer squad trying to repair the hq will also be destroyed. obviously it won't work if your opponent packs up, but than neither will your regular air strike...

It is Best i think if your America and get 3 airfileds. After getting your Mechs just Continusasly bomb the enemy Hq and then other Hq's. I have done that and Many and i mean many atimes and have won without Meating the enemy in fiscal contact! Very Happy

American Airpower,
I love this sight and i love the game! I also love Leoges get them!

Germany does have good fighter planes but they are not the purpose of this game. The bombers are but German bombers are not that really effective during World War II the bombs on London didn't really hurt Britain due to the lack of superiority tactics and enigma codebreakers. America is number 1 because the Napalm is more effective and has long range fighters including P-51 Mustang and the Lightning. Their bombers are the best in this game because of the upgrades they get. I rarely use German air power but tanks are better rather than choosing air power. American air power rules the sky. Why use American air power in the mechanized stage, why not wait when artillery tanks are produced and then you get airfields.
