I have to disagree with the arty rankings in this thread. personally I rate Germany last because all other countries have improved range while they don't, which means that in arty vs arty battles Germany will always fall short, and will require to move closer to the enemy while under bombardment, which also negates the lack of Improved Fire Control of the Russians and Japanese. moreover you've totally neglected Britain's and Japan's Foraging and Plentiful Ammunition, which makes them all the more durable when in a prolonged arty battle, in which both sides eventually fall back to heal up than go in again.

my personal ranking will be:
USA

- 10 extra damage per arty+most of the important upgrades. doesn't have Diesel Engines, Foraging and Plentiful Ammunition, but you can't have it all...

Britain- all the important upgrades(including those the USA

are missing) however it's missing the USA

's extra damage, and have weaker tanks in general.

Russia- the most durable arty tanks are missing some important upgrades(mainly Improved Fire Control) which makes them only 3rd.

Japan- the medium tank escorts open up some interesting strategies, like the pushing that you've mentioned. I agree with you that by itself it's not enough to rank them any higher, however as I said I personally value the Improved Range over all the other upgrades which is why it's ahead of Germany.

Germany- the extra range is lacking, that's all there really is to it. not to mention that Germany has both the best mechs and the best heavy tanks, and of course tigers, so I really don't favour going for arty tanks with Germany unless the map really biases against mechs/heavy tanks.

True your right about Germany arty tanks, they lack the long range fire power. I sometimes use but King Tiger tanks are more better than German artys. My rankings are Germany last, Britain a bit ahead of Germany due to the lack of gyrostablized tanks, Japan may be third because of the support of medium tanks. Russia and US are combined for second. To my opinion there maybe no first because tanks that are all upgraded should be first. If Japan had all the upgrades it would Japan artillery tanks first. So upgrades can be the key for artillery tanks in some cases
