Hey guys, reaching out to experienced players here.

I play this really difficult game with my mate each day for a little while. We have been playing the same save file for weeks. But we just can't seem to win. We have me as Manstein, him as Montgomery and a Nimitz AI with us. We are playing against 3 AI's. Wingate, Rommel and Patton. No matter what we seem to do we are always deadlocked with the opposing force. I made a giant attack on an enemy base recently but all I succeeded in doing was opening a third front.

It has gotten really difficult. Any pointers please?

if you guys are experiencing a deadlock it might be because you're using your special op bombs on regiments instead of buildings. that's fine, you can rack up a really good score that way, but if you ever want to WIN the game you'll need to destroy some Corps HQs and Infantry Divisions first.

well, it's long after the fact, but there's a few things you could try.

first off, make sure that you and your team-mate are concentrating all of your bombing attacks on a single target: the most powerful and wealthy AI player Corps HQ. right after you've blown up his Corps HQ (or wiped out a bunch of ammo depots) make sure that the Manstein player uses Espionage to steal some money to weaken the damaged AI player's economy further. if the buildings aren't destroyed use air strikes to finish the job. (although I normally prefer to use air strikes BEFORE using a bomb special op. this can lure the enemy into making engineers, or shifting existing units nearby to defend. THEN you can kill some regiments even if you don't destroy the buildings completely.

make sure that you're Montgomery playing buddy uses Code Breaker to reveal enemy positions so that AI Nimitz can use the Atomic Bomb when necessary.

if THAT doesn't work, try combining all three bombing attacks on a single crucial target.

consider building a couple of airfields and blow up the Corps HQ and then go after Division tent you cn find. the idea is to force them into an Upkeep Shortage that will bleed their units to death w/o having to fight them. however has the best air force should be the player building airfields. the other guy should give them money to make sure that the bombing never stops.

if you have infantry regiments left, consider getting rid of them and exchanging them for artillery tanks or heavy tanks.

another thing to consider is sacrificing some experienced infantry regiments in favor of a six-regiment airborne drop to break through the enemy's lines. placing two full divisions of airborne troops behind enemy lines combined with a bombing op just prior could be what you need to break the deadlock.

don't forget to ask you AI player for money if they have some to spare. and don't forget to give them money or buildings if they need to restore their economy after taking damage.

very early on in my SP days I found myself on a map that I just couldn't figure out how to win. I was stuck with German AT and goliath infantry in Scandanavia going up against Russian heavy tanks. it was a WW2 randomly generated map, and there was no way I could get tanks (apart from the Panzer Hohle).

I was in a pretty bad situation so here were a couple of things I did:

I summoned a six-regiment group of Panzer Hohle far behind the enemy's base and let them sit there until I got a complete group formed up. I would do hit-and-run attacks against his forward division tents and then run back and take up defensive positions to keep the AI distracted from noticing my flanking preparations. when I had gotten six Panzer Hohle read I rushed his Corps HQ and used Blitzkrieg on them. however, Panzer Hohle are notoriously easy to destroy so I had to create a diversion:

I launched dozens and dozens of supply trucks straight into his front-line regiments to distract them. I don't think I would be exaggerating if I said that I threw over 100 supply trucks at the AI as part of this last desperate assault. as the trucks were rushing him I attacked from the left flank with infantry rushing through a forest. the Panzer Hohle snuck in around the back of some mountain ranges to attack his Corps HQ directly from behind.

since this was the AI the plan actually worked. but he had so many tanks and so much money accumulated that I had to repeat this process three or four times before I could finally win. it was relying on the fact that the AI units don't make a distinction between combat units and non-combat units. they will simply attack any unit that is closest to them. (against a player this tactic wouldn't work nearly as well... but it can't hurt if you're out of better options)

so.... supply truck rush for the win. I mean, who would expect a supply truck rush, right?
