Yes, these help a lot.

Also, does anyone know where the general .tga's are used in the game? I am doing new general models, but I also see individual general still images. I don't recall where they are used.

If they are use somewhere, I'll go back and do them, but again, I don't know if they are used or not.

Just a quick update:

Finished the French tank models. I just need to skin them.

I also created a new coastal gun, by taking the battleship turret and placing it on a artillery platform. The result is pretty cool and I am particulary proud of it. Sorry, but I can't post any pics here.

We're going to try and set up a moddb page by the end of the month.

Also, can someone give me links to various defense platforms each nation used?

I just did the coastal guns and a pantherturm, nut I need more ideas.

Well its been a while yet again. Schools been eating up time and unfortunately the mod I was working on was deleted without my knowledge during the winter break so I have to restart it. However this does give me a chance to work out some balance problems on the old. One thing that has caught me attention is this threat here. http://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=153785 I hope to make a campaign for a ww3 from this. Good luck on your mod and happy new years guys.

can't really post them online-- but Harko finished up nearly all of the major Italian units in the last few weeks. I put together the elite Italian infantry divisions and just finished up the Italian tankettes last night.

based on current WW2 territories and planned mod nations:

1 United States: capital unchanged
Western United States, Eastern United States, Hawaii, Miday, Aleutian Islands, Alaska, Samoa, Phllipines
$49

2 Great Britain: capital unchanged
Great Britain, Egypt, Gibraltar, India, South Africa
$23

3 Russia: capital unchanged
Eastern Siberia, Siberia, Ural Mountains, Kazakhstan, Causcuses, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine
$43

4 China: capital Central China
Western China, Central China, Eastern China
$10 (this will be increased)

5 France: capital France
France, French Coast, French North African, French West Africa, South East Asia, Madagascar
$13 (this will be increased)

6 Minor Allied Power: capital Canada
Western Canada, Eastern Canada, Australia, Dutch East Indies, New Guinea, Brazil
$21

7 Germany: capital unchanged
German Coast, Germany
$17

8 Italy: capital Italy
Italy, Libya, East AFrica
$8 (this will be increased)

9 Japan: capital unchanged
Japan, Manchuria, Marshal Islands, Iwo Jima
$22

10 Minor Axis Power: capital Eastern Europe
Finland, Eastern Europe
$6 (this will be increased)

that's where the current territories are scheduled to go. I'll have to look into adjusting the econ for some of the newer factions
(China, Italy, and Minor Axis).

Harko and I decided that a generic minor Allied faction was the best solution for World War 2 mode. I wasn't planning on doing any new specifically Canadian units-- at most I had considered making a duplicate British faction using Canadian national generals.

Finland, same deal as Canada, only with an even worse economy! Eastern Europe was home to Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romanian axis forces it was the logical capital for all minor axis factions.

our current plan is to have the war start before the fall of France.

since most of the Minor nation factions could contain as many as a half-dozen countries we decided a generic faction was more practical.

making a new specific Canadian faction in WW2 mode would give players a faction with such a weak economy that they couldn't really muster anything in less than three or four turns-- and they'd start off by capturing very weak territories. by combining the minor participants in WW2 mode it makes playing for them a little more worthwhile.

we also decided that the Axis would need a fourth generic faction to make it harder for the Allies to win the WW2 game. with odds of 6 against 4 in their favor it basically matches the original game in terms of capitals captured.

Got it, although i think finland could maybe have a ski regiment, but canada, as far as i know, had no special regiments that differed from the UK.

Finished France and will be moving on to the minor Axis factions: Spain, Finland, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary.

Any suggestions for unique units and tech upgrades for any of these factions?

Finnish ski regiment, also for Finland, a mixed tank regiment to represent the capture and use of enemy tanks, most countries would scrap them, but with the smaller ones, they were put back in.

Are we talking captured Russian tanks for Finland?

Yeah, since Finland didn't have a ton of tanks other than small ones sent by germany, I was thinking it could have a finnish command tank, a light russian tank, light finnish (vickers 6 ton), and a BA 20 or something

I've got a Russian T26 model that I think could do the job for a Finnish light tank. figure they could get a new tech like "Captured Equipment" so they could field some Russian style units with new markings.

hey shittler, if you post some info on Canadian generals I'll see what I can do about adding them into the game. I'm gonna say 6 to 12 generals that were at least division level commanders would work.

I seem to remember an earlier Canadian A&A mod where NONE of the generals featured served in WW2-- lol, I don't want that. I'd like them to have served in a leadership capacity in WW2-- so if they became a general in the 1950s and fought in Korea that doesn't count for the purposes of this mod.

Here's an idea, since we seem to be focusing on finland for the moment, one other special regiment could be unique to the Lahti L-39, which was an AT rifle, but was so large, it had to be towed by horses, or carried by several men.

having done a bit more research on Finland-- they seem like a really good candidate for a new faction.

for now, it'll have to take a back-burner until we get the planned factions finished.
