oh yeah, the Japanese used flamethrowers like just about everybody else. the only twist is that they apparently deployed airborne flamethrower troops as well.

they also had the Type 2 Rifle Grenade Launcher. truth be told, nearly every major army in the world was using some variant of rifle grenade after World War One. Since the Japanese regiments are coming up a little bit short in the "special regiment" category-- this would probably be a nice addition.

Yeah, I probably am going to give the Japanese some kind of grenadier unit. I just can't think of much else.

For flamethrower infantry, I am keeping them unique to the US and flame tanks unique to the Brits.

I plan on giving the JPN chemically enhanced bombers (like napalm for US bombers) and when I add Italy, chem troops. I am also thinking of giving JPN chem artillery.

BTW, I was looking over at TripleThreatClan concerning that World at War mod that we discussed before. Aparantly those new models for some of the units were made using nifscope, which is free and I have. So I am going to try fiddling some more with that. If you figure out how to switch the models around, tell me plz.

Maybe you guys can be the creators of Axis and Allies 2 then. Because of the ideas that you have are interesting.

if, by soon, you mean in a couple of months... then yes I'm hoping to post the basic 5-nation version sometime in the fall. after I get all of my regular nations where I want them I'm hoping to integrate the Chinese factions and Italian factions later.

How are you for icons. I did a ton a while back, so if need any let me know.

Hopefully, your mod isn't too much like mine. Also, did you ever get your airborne tanks to work?

Panzerkreig: There are a couple mods in the mod download section. I posted some new generals there. Anyway, my mod will be done when it gets done. I hoping to get it done by summer's end. Then I'll redo the campaign.

I am going to make some changes too but its too early to tell how long it will take, still working out the kinks on the NifSkope.

Are you planning on making new units?

It isn't really a big mod, just a preview of what is to come. As I said, it only adds a couple new generals with already used powers. In my full mod, every general will have a uniqu power that only they have access to.

Nice to see our forum is growing some.

There are only a few commands I use to make new units. After you load a unit, left-click on a part so that it is highlighted, then right-click and go to transform (the top one). The two commands I use are edit and scale vertices. Edit moves parts around and scale allows you to increase or decrease the size of the unit. Scale verticles allows you to transform parts and this is the command I used to make the heavy tanks. I skewed the hell out of heavy tanks. All the tanks had different quirks, so for example, the British tank gave me the most trouble thus far. Everytime you skew a part, you want to skew the other parts poportionally so that the unit looks right. Well, when I did this for the British tank, the trends (the all white parts) didn't move as I wanted, so I had to use edit to move them back into place.

It took me a while to figure this out, but now I have a lot more editing options. It does take a while though to get a unit perfect.

Some things are made up of one big part. I haven't figured out how to split the parts up or if that's even possible.

Other tips:
1. When scaling or anything, you must first delete a zero (So that there are only 3 numbers after the .), then type in the desired number. For scaling vertices, typing in a 2.0, will make the part unit way bigger, so stick with typing in numbers after the ., like .7. X has to do with width, Y length, and z height.

2. Same deal with the edit command. You must delete numbers before entering the desired value. Unlike scale vertices, it gives you a preview of what changes. X moves a part left/right, z up/down, and Y sideways (I may be wrong about what each letter does, but I usually just play around with it until I get to the letter that changes things the way I want).

Since I got a handle on that NifSkope

How do you make regiments? Is it in the game that you can modify attack, defence... or is it another program?

You have to have units first, in the unit folder, the unit tgi's define attack, defense, etc. The .tgi can be opened with notepad or wordpad.

Regiments are in the regiments folder. Here you define a regiment's cost, upkeep, voice, and what units go into it (The slots below layout).

I would suggest making a copy of existing regiments and modifying them first. for example, try making a sniper marine regiment or something like that. you could even mix different units from different nationalities and have it work. once you get comfortable tweaking the original regiments then go on to create new regiments with original units.

I'm using some mods and when I built artillery tank i get 1 Hummel that has great range its nice especially if you are against tons of infantry and other units get in one large group then you do massive damage.

one of my new favorite German regiments to play with is the "Panzer Grenadier Regiment".

it's basically like an armored infantry regiment with four Panzer IVs (including CO) and five German infantry units (they can throw grenades at twice the speed of regular infantry). it consumes 25 units of ammo and 15 units of oil. it's great for entrenching in cities-- for offensive operations it's hampered by the infantry slowing it down-- but by using Communist Zeal or other infantry-based ops this can be rectified.

on the Russian end of things-- since the Rocket Truck has such a short range I've considered changing the number of trucks from 2 to 3 for the Mechanized Rocket Truck Regiment.

reading up on the woefully inadequate qualities of anti-tank rifles for Russia and Japan perhaps an infantry unit that uses "satchel charges" would be in order. it would basically be like an extremely powerful grenade-- it would inflict, perhaps 200 points of explosive damage in one hit, hit 3 points on morale -- but would have a long recharge time (let's say once ever 10-15 seconds).

for anti-tank work the Japanese would 'spam' rifle grenades and satchel charges (which is actually why I gave the Japanese rifle grenades in the first place, because I made AT rifles no better than machine guns against tanks)
