The Spy Garbo

The history of Joan Pujol Garcia is incredible. He was a double agent. For the British he was Garbo, but for German he was Arabel. Until here, the history of this Spanish citizen could be similar to other double agents. However, Garbo was a crucial piece of the Operation Fortitude (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Fortitude). Probably, without the success of this operation, the D-Day would have been a great failure, or the cost of human lifes would have been higher.

Garbo deceived for some years to the German Secret Service. Actually, he created an unreal net of espionage installed in the UK, but he never visited UK at that moment. He created the net independently, without the British support, later he began to work for British Secret Service. The Germans trusted completely in his information, they considered it of great value. In compensation, the German gave to Arabel the Iron Cross. Joan Pujol was a spy with a great capacity of initiative and courage, his acts show it.
