One of the Soviet Union’s most celebrated commanders, Giorgiy
Zhukov lifted the siege of Moscow, organized a successful counter-offensive at Stalingrad, and helped push the Germans out of Russia. He was the victor in the fierce competition between Soviet generals to please Stalin by capturing Berlin, and later became the commander of the Soviet zone of post-war Germany.
