Montgomery

Bernard Law Montgomery, after commanding the 8th Army in North Africa and playing a role in the invasion of Sicily and Italy, returned to Europe as the commander-in-chief of the ground forces during D-Day. After the war, he served as the Chief of the Imperial General Staff and as deputy supreme commander of NATO forces in Europe.
