AXIS and ALLIES RTS | Assault Infantry
In Axis and Allies RTS the assault infantry regiment has a limited role, although it can be effective if used correctly. With the strength of
AT-Mech and Arties most players won't waste time with assault infantry, but if your curious here's the rundown.
The primary benefit assault infantry offer is multiple grenade attacks, including the
m7 rifle grenade which has extended range
Assault infantry will not matchup well versus sniper-based infantry. Scout your enemies to avoid a matchup problem.
Assault infantry are best used in coordination with mech/armor, as they are often too weak to fight on their own, and too slow to finish off retreating vehicles
Infantry is at a disadvantage versus mech and armor. Very important to keep your anti tank infantry in benefitial terrain to help level the playing field.
WW2 | Rifle Grenades
A rifle grenade, not to be confused with a rocket propelled grenade (RPG), is a grenade that attaches to a rifle based launcher; and usually used a blank rifle round to propel the grenade with expanding gas. The rifle grenade had a some advantages over a hand-thrown grenade, greater range, time delayed or impact fuses, and could carry more explosives for a greater kill radius.
The M7 grenade was designed to attach to the US
M1 Garand and came in a variety of warheads, such as fragmentation, anti-armor and smoke. While the portability of the M7 was good, it was often difficult to use in combat and limited the rifle to single-shot mode while attached. At short range the M7 could be fired from the shoulder, however at maximum range the recoil was too high, and the rifle must be placed on the ground. In modern times, for the most part, the rifle grenade has given way to more accurate systems that use a dedicated launcher.

AXIS and ALLIES RTS | In Conclusion | Assault Infantry
Assault Infantry - Are capable of success in some situations, such as versus USA and Germany on heavily forested and/or jungle maps. Best in an infantry support role, mixed with mech or armor and using a tactic such as
cycling to keep the enemy constantly engaged. If your opponent(s) have special op bombs or are deploying sniper based infantry, reconsider deploying assault infantry...
Whatever you choose to deploy, it's up to you as commander to put your forces in an advantageous position with an understanding of
base resistances ,
terrain modifiers ,
formation ,
upgrades ,
special ops ,
