AXIS and ALLIES RTS | Artillery Tank Regiment
The artillery tank regiment is the dominate force in the late-game, and therefore one of the most important regiments to master and understand.
"The tank stage is the last and most difficult stage in Axis and Allies. It requires the most micro , because not only do you have to control a plethora of units in the field, but you have to defend your base from para drops and bomber planes." [more basic strategy ]
The Artillery Tank Regiment is at it's strongest when used for indirect engagements, by bombarding the enemy from a distance. Not only does it put your units further from harm, but also has devastating effects on enemy morale. It is also important for all players to understand a basic concept of bombarding,

AXIS and ALLIES RTS | Bombarding - Splash Bombarding
Bombardment Bombardment is an attack by artillery fire directed against fortifications, troops, towns, and/or buildings. It allows your forces to stand-off and attack the enemy from a distance, the benefits of which are obvious.
Bombarding can break your opponents will to fight, and effect the moral of targeted regiments, which can be key in determining who wins and loses any given battle.
It is important all players understand a couple simple techniques....
Selective Targeting When you attack an enemy you are usually facing them, unless you are flanking, or chasing retreating units.. If you attack the regiment by simply clicking on it, your forces will automatically attack the closest units; usually the support vehicles in the front... That is, unless you can bombard!
In Artillery vs Artillery battles it is important to target the strongest units of the regiment, the artillery units in the back.
This is done by Splash Bombardment....
Splash Bombarding Even when using the bombard command, if you attack the regiment by simply clicking on it, your forces will automatically attack the closest units. The trick to be able to target the units in the back, is to target the ground between them.
Any units within the target area will be given "splash damage"
This technique can be applied to fighting single, or groups of regiments, as well as attacking a variety of different targets.
Bombard Away!!
In Conclusion
While there are many small differences by country in the artillery tank regiment, every country can still be successful with this regiment. Japanese and Russian arties are better at pushing than bombarding, and the opposite can be said of British arties. Mixing
heavy tanks with German and Russian arties can be a powerful combo, and of course USA arties are the best at bombarding, and are excellent when combined with
airpower .

Japanese Medium Tank Type 2 Ke-To

Surprisingly the Japanese Medium Tank Type 2 Ke-To is significant to Axis and Allies online play, even though the medium tank unit is rarely ever produced by any other country. A&A credits this unit with a 75mm gun. First of all, the real life Type 2 Ke-To only featured a 37mm gun, and only 29 were ever produced, so it seems somewhat a strange selection by the game designers. The tank was largely still classified as a light tank, and perhaps goes to show how far behind Japan was in tank development. [
