SPECIAL OPS: List of All Special Ops
SPECIAL OPS

Special Ops are part of the most specific and focused strategies that exhist within A&A. Experienced players will alter their strategies to take advantage of their special ops. For example, the special ops of Konev are all well suited for the infantry stage of the game, so a player using Konev may be tempted to go for an infantry rush early.

The special ops available to any given general are located on the Special Operations bar, and can be used as long as they are not "grayed out".. It is up to you to know when and how to use them for greatest effect. In most cases that means saving your EXP for your most powerful special ops, and only using your lesser special ops in game changing or emergency situations.

Taking time to learn the strongest special ops of all the generals will help you quickly size up the strengths, and possible strategies, of not only your opponents; but your allies as well. See Counting Bombs for more info.

We have addressed the usage of each Special Op by General, in our Generals of Axis and Allies section. What follows below is a directory of the special ops and which generals have them, click on the General for our take on all the special ops. Also Included:

SPECIAL OPS: Counting Bombs
SPECIAL OPS
Counting Bombs

With the popularity of 4v4 Random Games in A&A online play, being able to quickly count how many "bombs" your allies and opponents have, can be very benefitial; and can effect both team and individual strategies/builds for the game. Here's a few tips to help keep things straight.

Great Britian

Carpet Bomb
Montgomery  Wavell
Montgomery, Britian's most charismatic general in real life, is also their strongest general in A&A; so not too hard to remember him. As for Wavell, just think of a "Wave" of bombers.

Germany

V Weapons
Rundstedt  Manstein
Just remember the Arnold Schwarzenegger film and Steven King book "The Running Man".. Also a bad 1980's dance move

Japan

Kamikaze
Yamamoto  Nagumo
For me it's easier to remember the Japanese generals that DON'T have bombs. Mikawa is easy, he's one of the "Eco Whore" generals, and Kuribayashi, whom was portrayed in Letters from Iwo Jima also had no bomb.

Russia

Carpet Bomb
Chuikov
Not too hard to remember Chuikov is Russia's strongest general, and has Russia's only "bomb"

United States

Carpet Bomb / Nuke
Arnold  Nimitz
If you can't remember which USA generals have bombs, you may be in trouble...

Taking time to learn the strongest special ops of all the generals will help you quickly size up the strengths, and possible strategies, of not only your opponents; but your allies as well. See Special Ops and Generals for more info.

SPECIAL OPS: Paper Tanks | The Grab and Go
GERMANY

The Real Paper Tank: Fake tanks were built by many of the nations involved in WW2. Local craftsmen would obtain whatever supplies were available to construct them (often plywood with a tree for a cannon). These were used to trick enemy troops and command, and at times they were placed as a trap. Units moving forward to engage the "Fake Tanks" would be flanked from another direction. Not much information available as to their effectiveness.

The German Panzer Holhe (or Russian Maskirovka) - commonly refered to as a "Paper Tank" (or "Fake Tank"), produces a single, unattached medium tank regiment. Although it is often the subject of jokes, the Paper Tank does actually have some practical applications in online mulitplayer gameplay. Annoy your enemies by stealing their cities and destroying their tech buildings, or even blocking their retreat. Possibly the most powerful use is a technique we'll call the....
