SUPPLY: The Supply Depot and Zone of Supply
LOGISTICS

The supply depot, one of the most important structures in Axis and Allies RTS, is also the only structure which doesnt count against your maximum building limit of 20. It is for that very reason it is so important. Use supply depots to generate not only a zone of supply, but oil and ammo as well! First off, creating a zone of supply...

Zone of supply is important in many ways, but most importantly, your regiments will heal and be resupplied while in zone of supply. Also has positive effects on morale, combat effectiveness, and more. Any place on the map that has been "lit up with supply" also serves as a warning zone for potential enemy attacks. enemy troops will show up in the minimap of any supplied area.

SUPPLY: Using Supply as Counter-Intel
LOGISTICS

WITH THE POPULARITY OF THE 4v4 RANDOM GAMES, IT CAN BE VERY BENEFICIAL TO DETERMINE WHAT COUNTRIES YOU ARE FACING ASAP. THE ENEMY WILL NO DOUBT SEND OUT SOME SUPPLY TRUCKS TO SCOUT FOR YOUR BASE(S). SIMPLY CLICK ON THE TRESPASSING SUPPLY TRUCK, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE WHO'S TRUCK IT IS, AND AS LONG AS YOU CAN RECOGNIZE THE TRUCKS BELOW YOU WILL KNOW WHAT COUNTRY THEY ARE. YOU WILL STILL NEED TO FIND THEIR BASE TO KNOW WHICH GENERAL, BUT EVERY LITTLE BIT OF INTEL HELPS.

SUPPLY: Using Supply Trucks as Recon - Intel
LOGISTICS

YOUR SUPPLY DEPOTS IN TRUCK FORM CAN BE A GREAT WAY TO GAIN VALUABLE INTEL ABOUT ENEMY FORCES, BASE LOCATIONS, GENERAL ASSIGNMENT, AND SO ON. IN THE DEFAULT GAME SETTINGS (UNLESS A SCENARIO MAP), YOU GET A SUPPLY DEPOT TRUCK TO BEGIN THE GAME. LETS ILLUSTRATE HOW TO USE THAT TRUCK TO SCOUT THE ENEMY.

THE FOLLOWING ALSO DEMONSTRATES A COUPLE OF IMPORTANT GAME PRINCIPALS, NAVIGATING USING THE MINIMAP AND ISSUING CHAIN COMMANDS. WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH IS TO HAVE THE SUPPLY DEPOT TRUCK SCOUT AN AREA AND RETURN BACK TO YOUR BASE, AS SEEN IN THE ANIMATION TO THE LEFT; RATHER THAN DEPLOY IT IN A STRAIGHT LINE AND HAVE IT STOP ONCE IT GETS THERE.

1. FIRST SELECT YOUR SUPPLY DEPOT TRUCK

2. RIGHT-CLICK THE FIRST DESTINATION ON THE MINIMAP

3. HOLD DOWN OR AND RIGHT-CLICK THE SECOND DESTINATION ON THE MINIMAP
4. HOLD DOWN OR AND RIGHT-CLICK THE THIRD DESTINATION ON THE MINIMAP

THIS PROCESS CAN BE REPEATED FOR AS MANY DESTINATIONS AS DESIRED.
IF YOU WANT YOUR SUPPLY DEPOT TO UNPACK AT THE END OF IT'S JOURNEY, REPLACE STEP#4 ABOVE WITH THIS
4. HIT ON THE KEYBOARD, HOLD DOWN OR AND LEFT-CLICK ON DESIRED UNPACK LOCATION.

AFTER YOU ISSUE THE CHAIN COMMAND, AS LONG AS YOU STILL HAVE THE REGIMENT(S) SELECTED, EACH DESTINATION WILL BE MARKED WITH A BLUE FLAG ON THE MAP (NOT THE MINIMAP, ONLY NEXT STOP DISPLAYED WITH AN X) AND A NUMBER WHICH REPRESENTS THE ORDER IN WHICH THAT POINT WILL BE VISITED.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT PRINCIPAL OF SUPPLY TRUCK SCOUTING IS UNPACKING AND RE-PACKING YOU DEPOT ALONG THE WAY. THIS UNFORTUNATELY MUST BE DONE MANUALLY AS THE UNPACK COMMAND CAN ONLY BE ISSUED AT THE END OF A CHAIN COMMAND. THERE ARE TWO BENIFITS TO UNPACKING/PACKING YOUR SUPPLY DEPOT. YOUR SUPPLY DEPOT HAS A GREATER DETECTION RANGE WHEN UNPACKED, AND UNPACKING/PACKING YOUR SUPPLY DEPOT WILL ALSO REPAIR ANY DAMAGE IT HAS RECEIVED ALONG THE WAY. JUST REMEMBER THAT IF YOU UNPACK/PACK YOUR DEPOT THAT ANY PREVIOUSLY ISSUED CHAIN COMMANDS WILL BE DELETED.

SUPPLY: Making Large Quantities of Supply
LOGISTICS

Even if you never learn and/or use another keyboard shortcut, you must know how to deploy 100's of supply depots quickly in Axis and Allies RTS. Using the mouse would take forever, so try this simple shortcut:

1. LEFT-CLICK/SELECT YOUR CORP HQ

2. RIGHT-CLICK AN AREA ON THE MAP, OR MINI-MAP, THAT YOU WANT YOUR SUPPLY TRUCKS TO DEPLOY TO
3. HIT ON KEYBOARD (FOR DEPLOY)
4. HIT ON KEYBOARD (FOR SUPPLY)
5. DON'T FORGET TO PARK YOUR SUPPLY TRUCKS

6. REPEAT AS NEEDED

SUPPLY: Using Supply Depots for Ammo and Oil
LOGISTICS

In Axis and Allies RTS, it is essential to maintain positive accrual levels of ammo and oil at all times! Dipping into the "red" for even a short time will come with severe monetary penalties. So you will need to acquire some ammo and oil, what's the best way you ask?

One of the most common mistakes newer players make is to deploy oil and ammo depots instead of supply depots. Why not make oil and ammo depots? The answer is two-fold. Most importantly, oil and ammo depots both count against your building limit of 20, whereas supply depots do not. Use your 20 buildings wisely, the more hq's, the better your economy. Secondly, you get more resources for your investment using supply depots. Here's an example:
We'll use Germany since they get the best ammo and oil accrual rates from their oil/ammo depots (lame compensation for the weak economy). Let's say we need 90 ammo and 90 oil.

3 DEPOT @ 75 = 225
3 DEPOT @ 100 = 300
TOTAL of 525 and -6
or
18 SUPPLY DEPOTS at 25
TOTAL of 450 and -0

SUPPLY: Supply Fields and Multiplayer
LOGISTICS

Axis and Allies RTS - Depending on map conditions and the number of players, it can be difficult at times to find a safe place to deploy and build your supply fields. it's important to plan your base layout early, and to keep your supply fields organized when space might be an issue. If you have a good location for your supply fields it also makes them easier to defend. If your opponent(s) want to waste a v-bomb or carpet on your supply, better that than your armed forces.

Planning a good location for your supply fields and base layout can begin right at the onset of the game. Take a look at the terrain around you and see where you will have room to build. Look at the minimap an imagine a line from your base to where you believe your opponents are most likely located, as in the example to the left.

Point (a) would be an excellent location for your supply fields, they will eventually be protected by the anti aircraft defenses you plan to build at point (b), since it's to most likely incoming route for air attacks against your base.

Just remember to be kind to your teamates and give them room to build too!

MULTIPLAYER MAPS CAN GET CROWDED, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO FIND SAFE ROOM FOR YOUR SUPPLY FIELDS

AN EXAMPLE OF USING "DEPLOY TO" FROM THE CORP HQ TO DEPLOY SUPPLY TOWARD A SPECIFIC LOCATION
